Help

can anybody help me on an assignment topic: Discuss how
windows 2000 facilitates the sharing of data and resources
among processes and the protection of resources from
unauthorized access eg,other applications from accessing
prohibited data

look into crypto (and I would read the posts here. the
build in crypto gets messed up fairly regularly leaving
people to ask "now how do i get that data back again?!") I
would never use it.

also look into file sharing, user rights and permissions,
networking permissions, and the like. The simple, easy way
is to open the sys-admin control panel stuff and start
reading the help. You can dig deeper on mircosoft.com, or
get a good book, or search the web.

advanced:
look at firewalls and add on security. For example, on our
server, a list of programs that are allowed to run is in
the firewall, and no other program may execute without
user interaction. This has stopped countless attempts by
hackers to install backdoors, yet leaves the system open
for our use.
