On my system, config.sys is a hidden zero byte file. Can you boot up with a
floppy and create a zero byte config.sys file just to make the OS happy?

Are you sure you're in the right group? Win2000 does not
use config.sys but Win98/ME does.

If you firmly believe that your system runs Win2000 (and
NOT Windows ME) then post the recent history of your
machine.
