I have two windows XP computers and one windows 2000 pro computer on a home
network. The 2000 pro can access all the shared resources on the network but
when I try to access the computer with the 2000 pro with a XP machine, there
is a prompt for a username and password. I didn't set any user names or
passwords for sharing, so what do i do to make the windows 2000 machine
available?

The key to your problem lies in your statement
"I didn't set any user names or passwords for sharing". Win2000 and
WinXP are secure operating systems, hence they will prevent "strangers"
from accessing any files.

The answer is simple: Create and use an account on each PC whose
name and password is the same on every PC, e.g. "BigT" / "MyPassword".
