windows 2000 logon hangs

When I log into windows 2000, i login and then it just
shows my desktop with no icons. It hangs, so I press
control + Alt + Delete and log off. Then I log back in
and I am able to login in fine? Any ideas? I have
already done all the windows updates (1 specific one
addresses this very issue, but didn't work!)
 
Make sure your user ID is part of the local admin group and it will work.
