windows 2000 keeps freezing

when im online and opening multiple windows my system
freezes up ..it wont even warm boot..when im offline it
does it usually with multimedia files ie media player ive
updated my files on the msn site but when i updated my
windows media plyer it kept the old version aswell..ive
unloaded the new version to see if that corrected it but
not.......can anyone help plz?? thanks

If you used winupdate to update media player, and it left the old media
player then something went wrong.
The freeze's could be caused by numerous things.
First try, download and install msconfig,
In Services Tab, hide all MS services, uncheck the rest.
In Start Up tab, disable all
Reboot, test sys.
If OK then its a matter of trial & error to identify problem services
If no change, ensure win is updated, check all hw for updated drivers
