Windows 2000 IpSec howto

Raymond

Hello

Pleace excuse my poor english.

I am wondering if anyone could direct me to were I can find
information on how I can establish a IpSec based VPN to do the
following.

I want to only to use IpSec to tunnel certain connections, but not
all. The rest of the connections is going to travel by the default
gateway. Is this possible by the use of IpSec ? The use of IpSec is to
use encryption to secure the connections and authenticate the users.

Where can I find some information on how this is done ?

Any help would be appriciated.

One thing about IPsec. It will NOT repeat not go through a NAT, but will
travel through any router on the Internet.
So if you want to use a PC on LAN Helsinki to another Server/PC at LAN
Bergen, you can't cause the routers at both places have NAT and IPSEC
cannot pass NAT.
The best way is to use Router to Router VPN in hardware, where you can use
IPSEC and authenticate with 3DES keys. This way the routers keep all that
under control and out of the way of Server 200x. If you want certain apps
or paths to go through VPN, you can set permissions on the Servers at
Helsinki and Bergen to allow those users on to that network.

Please have a look at the Netgear Router VPN-VPN site for some case studies
that work. Sometimes the simplest ideas work out fine.

With Recommended Update 818043 you can now use IPSec across a NAT with
Windows XP and Windows 2000. Windows Server 2003 has this feature already.
