Hi all,

I'm having a Windows 2000 server(with IIS& with no service pack. After
installing the OS i assigned a Public IP address to the server. Also, I
am running SQL 2000 and VNC server on the system. After ten hours or so,
i'm getting colloison in the etwork and i'm losing my entire network.I
am able to restore my network only by restarting or shutting down the
2000 server.

I will be really happy if anyone can give a solution for this

Thanks in advance.

That is prolly the worst idea on the face of the planet to do. A public IP
addy with IIS and no service packs is basically an advertisment to hackers
saying "PLEASE COME TAKE OVER MY SERVER". I have no doubt that someone has
already compromised your system and is using it to perform DDoS attacks
(hence the network overload). I would scrap the machine, reformat it, and
next time patch it up to spec before you go giving it a public IP.

I cannot reiterate enough times what a HORRIBLE idea it is to give an
unpatched machine running IIS an external IP.
