My brother has a home PC with Windows 2000, and because of his remote
location has only dial-up internet access. This year, he has discovered that
he could not renew his Kaspersky license because it no longer supports Win2K.
He has been unable to find any other AV software that will work with Win2K.
Now that he has no protection against worm attacks, he says it's too risky to
browse online. Surely there's something he could use to protect his PC??

PS - I apologize if this is the wrong discussion group to post this
question. Please direct me to a more appropriate group if this is not the
right one.

Thanks,
Cyndi

Priour downloading/installing a new AV application ensure Kaspersky is
uninstalled *completely*!

ESET NOD32 Antivirus - Payware

Note: The average homeuser can get by with good quality AV freeware.

Avira AntiVir® Personal - FREE Antivirus
System Requirements: Windows 2000/XP/Vista | License: Free

(The free version won't scan your emails.)

Unless you are using Microsoft Outlook or Loutus Notes (MAPI or VIM),
scanning email is worthless.

Ensure your e-mail program is configured to display e-mail messages in
'Plain Text' only.

Routinely practice Safe-Hex.

Thanks, Kayman. I will let my brother know about these and post back if he
tries one.
