Window XP Front page

I notice that starting yesterday (07/11/04) that I have a side bar on the left side of my screen. The bar has three folder, Folder Task, Other Places, Details. I got rid of it earlier today by going back to a earlier seting of my Windows XP. But it came back. What can I do to prevent it from coming up or displaying?
 
Remove Common Tasks from Desktop:
