Hi - does anyone know why Windows XP professional under service pack 2 produces thousands of xml files on the C drive?

How do I stop Windows XP producing all these files which I have no interest in looking at, even supposing that I could open them with an appropriate program?

Give an example of the content of the XML files and where they are getting
saved as that would provide SOMETHING to work on. Presumably you've already
done the virus, spyware, and other malware scans.

You could also try using SysInternals' FileMon utility to see what process
is creating the .xml files. You can configure it to look only at "*.xml"
filetypes in its filtering.
