If I leave the computer for a short time, when I get back I have to sign in
again. How do I lengthen the time?

Has your screen saver activated while you are away from your computer?

Right click on vacant desktop space and select "Personalise"

Click on "Screen Saver"

In the window that opens, about 2/3 way down, look for

Wait xx minutes

Change the number to whatever you want.

Next to that look for "On resume display log on screen"

It sounds like you have this ticked.

If you do not want to log in after screen saver is activated then
untick this item

Click "OK" at bottom of this window.

Thank you so much! I felt the solution would be quick, but just could not
figure out what to do. How do I rate your answer?

Right-click the Desktop anyplace where there are no icons, then select
Properties, then select the Screen Saver Tab, and deselect the checkbox that
requires a password to begin working after the screen saver starts.
Alternatively, extend the time it takes for the screen saver to kick in.
