I have a 22" screen which I generally keep at a resolution of 1680 x 1050.
However, when I view videos/movies in a player (ie. Windows Media Player,
etc.) I would prefer a larger resolution of about 800 x 600. Is there anyway
to view a particular running program/window in a larger resolution without
increasing/changing the resolution of the entire desktop? If there is no way
to do it natively with Vista, is there a third party program that might
accomplish this?

Yes, there is No way to do it with Vista, or a third party app. Everything
on the screen will be displayed at the set resolution. Media player can
however, easily be set to use the entire screen or any part you wish.
