window.print

I'm using XP SP3. I have a table, created with .asp, that shows up nicely on
the screen, but when I print it with window.print and it extends over several
pages, the entry in the 1st row, 1st column is blank on the second and
subsequent pages.

If I change font size, which changes the number of pages printed, the
behavior stays the same: entry in 1st row, 1st column of second and
subsequent pages is blank.

Where do I start looking for the cause of this problem, and how can I fix it?

Thanks,

Gerry Metze

The printer is an HP Officejet 5505. Preferences are same as for other
normal printing. Note that the header is printed just fine on the second and
later pages above the first line of the table that misses the column 1 entry
(columns 2 .. are fine).

This also happens when I print the web pages from another computer and
another printer.

By the way, sorry about the late answer; I was waiting for the reply
notification I asked for which, however, never came.

Thanks,
Gerry

Followup: This is roughly what the top of page 2 looks like, assuming n
rows of the table have been printed on page 1 (note that n depends on the
font size used):

page header (looks normal)

| | col. 2, row n+1 | col. 3, row n+1 | ...

Somebody suggested a work-around: force the page breaks. It indeed made the
problem go away, and also removed a cosmetic flaw that had always annoyed me:
the last row on the bottom of a page had partial cell side borders showing,
and the top row on the next page had no cell top borders and only partial
cell side borders (in addition to the left-most cell being empty).

The work-around fixed the problem, but that's all it is -- a work-around.
The basic problem remains somewhere in the browser (Internet Explorer 8),
window.print, or whatever. I'm curious to know, and will help with
diagnosing it if possible.

Thanks,

GerryM
