this seems to be a norton
issue and there will be some
answers at the norton website.

from a windows perspective,
uninstalling that program should
resolve the issue.

Hi dinslow,

This is usually caused by a registry item that is not properly wrapped
in quotation marks.

Look at these registry entries:

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
and
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

Look for a Norton registry entry that has "C:\program files\norton
internet security" in the value.

For example, if the registry item has:

C:\program files\norton internet security\program.exe /switch

then wrapped quotes around the entry like this:

"C:\program files\norton internet security\program.exe" /switch

If you cannot perform this yourself then run then please download the
following file to your desktop.

http://www.lprf.ca/files/batch/runkeys.cmd

Double-click "runkeys.cmd" to export the run registry items to your
desktop. Now there should be two new files located on desktop called
"runcu.txt" and "runLM.txt" after running the "runkeys.cmd".

If you could email "runcu.txt" and "runLM.txt" to:

wcrawford at mvps dot org

I will take a look for you and advise you how to fix the proper
registry item.

dinslow,

I have sent you an email and the email reply was:

I have reviewed the two files you have sent me and I believe this is
the entry causing Windows Explorer to open at startup at the location
of "c:\program files\norton internet security".

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"URLLSTCK.exe"="C:\\Program Files\\Norton Internet Security
Professional\\UrlLstCk.exe"

I created a registry file fix for you to download and merge into the
registry.

The download can be found here:

http://www.lprf.ca/files/temp/norton.fix.reg

Download the file to your desktop. Right-click the file to select
"Merge".

Restart your computer and see if the problem still continues.

NOTE: You can view the file contents by right-clicking the downloaded
file to select "Edit".
