Window Installer error

I am running XP with all three service packs. I use Outlook XP.

I am not receiving my mail any more. The accounts haven't changed. I
decided to run 'Detect and Repair". I get the following Windows Installer
message: "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify
that the source exists and that you can access it." I get the message when
the install disk is in the drive.

I tried reinstalling Outlook XP and I get the same message. I downloaded
Installer 3.1 -- no difference. I've searched KBs for problems with Outlook,
and Installer but don't find an answer.

HELP!!

Did you change your boot drive at any point, using a disk cloning utility to
copy the existing boot drive to the new one?

Thanks for the response. No changes with either.

The error you describe is typical of corruption of the C:\Windows\Installer
folder. Some cloning don't properly copy that folder. That's why I asked.
I don't have any good suggestions. Sorry.
