window has shrunk

after coming back from holiday i have found that windows seems to have been
updated and my windows have shrunk, and i am losing the about an inch off the
right hand side of the window. i also have a black border round the out side
too, has this happened to anyone else, and how do i fix it?

It sounds like your monitor settings have changed.

Fiddle with the buttons on the front of your monitor; you are looking for
something like "position" and "size". These are likely to be in a menu.
