I have some Win98 pc's, one Win2000 pc, and some XP pc's
on a windows network (no domain server). Sometimes the
Win98 pc's show up on the network but mostly not. If I
shut down the XP pc's, the Win98 & Win2000 pc's see each
other OK. Turning off the firewall didn't help. Any ideas?

Are you running any DNS servers or are all computers set to get an automatic
IP address? You might try setting at least the XP machines to a static IP
192.168.0.x range and that should take care of the problem. I understand
the problem with the 98 machines. I have the same problem, unfortunately, I
have yet to find a solution. But my problem doesn't happen very often. Are
your computers connected through a hub or router?
