Win98 <----> WinXP Networking issues

Hey, having problems with networking between win98 and
winxp. I have lights on the hub I'm using and lights on
each network card. However, using TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, or
NETBUEI, the computers don't see each other. I can't even
ping one computer from the other. I have no idea what the
problem is, if anyone has any possible fixes, please give
me a hand here. Thanks.

do you use a hub or a router use the xp for the server

and create client disks for other comp ie/win98 and below
are you familar with winipcfg?
