win98 to winxp

i want to upgrade win98 to winxp but i hv a couple programs that i dnt hv the
disks for anymore,would these programs still be present after upgrade and if
yes would they work?

The programs will most likely still be there after upgrading.
As for work, contact the manufacturer for Windows XP compatibility.
