Win2K3 Upgrade Problems - PLEASE HELP

S

Scott McDonald

We have an access frontend that uses a SQL server backend database. I have a server with a few terminal server users on it that connect specifically to use this app. I upgraded this server to 2003 and am having some issues, most are solved now, but this access database still has issues with the data access method of the server (something to do with MDAC and oledb32.dll is what my programmer is telling me). We've tried extracting new versions from the Windows 2003 CD and even Windows 2000 CD for oledb32.dll and that does nothing. As for MDAC, we have discovered that for various reasons the installed version in 2003 (2.8) is worthless to us, we would need version 2.7 yet when I install 2.7 it says it installs fine, then i run the component checker and it shows version 2.8 still

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

MDAC 2.8 is included by default in Windows 2003. There is no way to change that.

Would you install a lesser version of MDAC in Windows 2000 than what it shipped with? That is not recommended. Why then do it in Windows 2003?

Because the application that needs to run on it wont work with it thus the
server is useless to us...

I guess we'll be going back to Win2000.
