WIN2K3 DNS error

W

Walt Smith

My clients (WIN XP) having problems to access the server DNS.

Getting errors: Non-existent domain, and error messages Event ID: 1054 NT
AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Windows cannot obtain domain controller name for your
computer network!! Group policy processing aborted !! I have no WINS
installed?

DSN locally on server works fine! After fresh server install, added
FORWARDERS DNS entried to server name properties. Did I forget anything
else??

Hmm...usually *could* be a DNS misconfig. WINS has nothing to do with GPOs.

To better help in diagnosing, *PLEASE* post this info:

1. An UNEDITED ipconfig /all from both domain controllers, that will vastly
help us in giving you a better diagnosis.
2. The AD DNS domain name (as it shows up in your ADUC).
3. What service pack is on both machines.

Thanks!
