WIN2K updates installed but unable to startup

Last week I installed all the recommended WIN2K updates
from Microsoft's website. Now I can't restart WIN2K
because I get the blue screen with the following message:

STOP: 0x00000001E (cxC00000005, OxEB&CCDC7, 0x00000000,
0x000000005) KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED.

In checking the website I can't find specifically how to
address the problem. Gateway wants me to reinstall
Windows, but I never want to reinstall windows. The last
time Gateway told me to do that, I lost everything, and
once everything was reinstalled, I went on-line and found
the answer was to remove the Zip Drive drivers and
reinstall the new drivers from IOMEGA.

I believe this may have something to do with the video
drivers (NVIDIA). I can boot to Safe Mode so can I disable
the NVIDIA video driver (that was another suggestion of
Gateway, but they said I need to switch to standard VGA
and load those drivers, but I couldn't find standard VGA
in the list of drivers.)

Thank you in advance.

You might try using the 'Last Known Good Configuration'
instead of safe mode. The problem is if it works, you
will have to re-apply those patches if you felt it
necessary.
Everytime that you successfully log onto your puter the
Last Known Good is over written since it thinks that all
is well. I am not sure if Safe Mode qualifies as a
successful log in.
