win2k and win98se problem

i have a friend who has a comp with a partitioned hdd.
there are 2 o/s (win98se and win2k). when the comp
loads, it gives her a menu to choose between win2k or
98. when she choose win2k, it gives her a login screen
(not sure what type tho). however, recently, as soon as
she select win2k, it gives her a blue screen and not the
login screen. the comp doesn't seem to be frozen cause
the cursor is responding when she moves the mouse.

files she saved when using win2k cannot be seen with
win98, but files saved using win98 shows up when she use
win2k. with win2k, the hdd she saves file in is d drive,
but the d drive in win98 is the cd-rom.

anyone have any remedy for this problem? what might be
the problem and is there any way she can fix this cause
all her assignments are on there. thanks!

The details you supply are insufficient for a diagnosis of
her Win2000 installation.

In the meantime she should do immediately what she
obviously failed to do for a long time: Back up her data
to another medium. Failure to do so is likely to cause
total loss of all data. Install a copy of ntfsdos.exe on
her Win9x installation - this will most likely enable her
to see the files that she stored on her Win2000 NTFS
partition.

Remind her: If data is important then it must be backed
up every week. If it does not get backed up then it is not
important - because she's prepared to lose it!
