Win2000/WinXP HTML Pages Partially Load then Quit

Help. I think I have an ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) problem. My
CLIENT computer (see below) can connect to the internet using ICS, however
large HTML pages do not load completely (around 16k gets loaded) -- ie.,
www.aol.com -- or I get cannot find server errors (although pings,
tracert's, etc all show the CLIENT is connected to the internet) -- The HOST
works completly fine...

---------------------------
Senario:
---------------------------
HOST is a Windows 2000 Server with 2 NIC cards (DSL connected to SBCYahoo
WinPoet, Internal LAN)
* DHCP Server not enabled, DNS Server not enabled
* Manually treaked MTU = 1460

CLIENT is a WinXP with 1 NIC card (Internal LAN)
* Manually treaked MTU = 1460

I have ICS enabled on the HOST's Internal LAN and I know it is working
because the CLIENT can get to the internet (ie., ping's, tracert's, etc)
However 2 out of 10 page requests get 'Cannot find Server' errors, or the
webpage get's partially loaded and then stops... I've tried looking online
for a solution but I cannot find anything. What conflicts could be
occuring between HOST and CLIENT that can cause this? How do I troubleshoot
and fix this? I've included both machine's IP configuration below...

Thank you in advance for any help with this!

Cheers,
-Kevin

To me this looks like an IE problem. Try doing a little house cleaning of
your Internet Explorer.

Open IE
Tools, Windows Update - make sure you have installed all critical updates
Go to Tools, Internet Options
General tab - Delete cookies, Delete files (all offline content)
Security tab - default level
Connections tab - lan settings button - make sure nothing is checked
Advanced tab - restore defaults

Phil,

Thanks for the quick reply... I don't think it's an IE issue as some
software installed on the CLIENT (winXP) box have problems maintaining a
connection to the internet... I've followed your advice with no changes to
the problem...

Any other ideas?

Thanks

-Kevin

For anyone who is experiencing this problem ... a work around was to not use
ICS and use a proxy server on the computer connected to the internet...

go to
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/proxy.htm
and download this proxy thing. i havent had any problems
since i installed it (20 mins ago)

(if anyone knows why this works better than ICS then I'd love to know)

Cheers,

This sounds like an MTU problem and installing SP1 on the ICS host should
help.
