Win2000 Server Logon Problem

Several of our programmers are complaining of difficulty connecting to the server in both DOS and Windows, and of being dropped without warning when working in DOS. These problems seem to occur most frequently soon after the programmer has turned their computer on, and less frequently as the day progresses.

All of the client computers are programmers. When you say, check my network hardware, what am I checking for? What kind of test to I run to determine if there is a problem with the hardware?
