Wondering my safest option . . .

Somehow I have lost the hibernate / Standby option to shutdown on a desktop
PC.
Have gone thru all the hardware drivers and nothing seems to work, the PC
was upgraded from ME about 6 months ago which I figure doesn't help.

I have the Win2000 CD, what is the best way to reinstall 2000 without losing
settings ?
A clean install is not an option.
Thanks anyone, Read
