Hello,

I can't seem to find a solution for this problem.

Win2k pro sp3 256mb RAM (gov't comp, sp4 not approved yet)

when browsing files with explorer I will get a pause at random intervals
before moving to the selected folder. This pause occurs when double-
clicking a folder or when hitting the back button (occurs when moving up or
down folder structure). It doesn't happen everytime, but probably 4 out of
every 10 clicks. Also, a pause occurs when using IE (ver 6.0.2800.1106 sp1
with updates), at about the same frequency there will be a pause when
clicking a web link or after typing a url and hitting 'go' button.

This pc is clean of spyware and runs an updated corporate version of norton
anti-virus. Looking at the taskmgr I see no process in use during the
pause (pause lasts between 5 and 20 seconds).

Now, the thing that gets me, if I log in under any other profile there is
no problem. This only affects one profile (a manager with admin rights).
I have deleted that user profile, restarted and logged in to allow creation
of a new user profile (of the same name) and the problem persists! Event
viewer shows nothing.

My next move is to ghost the machine, but I hate not knowing the cause of a
problem. Anyone got any ideas? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like one of his mapped drives is not responding and is causing
the pause maybe?

I was hoping that might be the answer because this user does have a mapped
drive that they don't use (it works fine, but it's just not used), but I
disconnected and still get the pause. Oh well, thanks for the idea, I give
up though, this one will just have to be a mystery. Time to ghost.
