Pause at 40 seconds

I have a problem with WMM on Vista. The audio & video on my current project
keeps automatically pausing at the 40 second mark, and I have to press the
Play/Pause button a couple of times before it starts playing again. I know
this has to do specifically with the 40 second mark because after I added the
title clip, the same problem occurred on a different clip at that same point
in the film. Because of this glitch, I can't publish the movie to my
computer. Does anyone have any solutions?

I would wonder if your project is too complex for your system resources.

If so, then is there some way I can adjust my system resources? Or perhaps I
can split my project in two somehow and piece them together later?

It may help some if you disable your internet connection
and close all programs (especially virus scanners) before
opening Movie Maker. As an Experiment you could try
creating a new, much smaller project with similar source
files and see if you encounter the same problems.

Splitting a large complex project into several smaller
projects is sometimes a solution. The following article
was written for Win XP Movie Maker but can also be
useful for Vista Movie Maker.

Ah, that's better! Splitting up the project seemed to do the trick. Thanks so much for the advice!
