Win/XP Windows Update Problem

Hi All:
When trying to check for Windows Update for my XP Home System the webpage
( http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ )
is opened but just stays blank. I see a message that says 'Done, but with
errors on page' and then just says 'Done' but the page remains blank. Any
suggestions or clues on how to fix this problem. I have tried numerous times
after disabling all the options in Zone Alarm, shut down ZAP completely and
have turned off Webwasher. Shut down my browser
IE6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 update version SP1and restarted it. I'm
out of ideas, any help would be appreciated.

search for malware/trojans.

Thanks All for you help.
I followed all of your advice to no avail.
What I finally did was clean up all unnecessity files, deleted all cookies,
deleted all off-line content, deleted all temporary internet files, cleaned
out my recycle bin and ran a defrag on my harddisk. Then, after restarting
Internet Explorer did a windows update and everything came up fine. Thanks
