Do the october security patches apply to winxp
home/professioal coz while downloading the patches
i.e "823182" & "828035", it describes for XP 64 BIT EDITON
and Gold edition.

64 bit does not apply to regular PC users.
"Gold" means the product as it was released to retail.
If the fixes don't differentiate otherwise, they should
be applicable to Home and Pro.

"Gold" is a term that Microsoft uses to refer to the first shipping version
(as opposed to a service pack).

For an individual machine, Microsoft would recommend going to
windowsupdate.microsoft.com and letting it scan and tell you if there is a
patch you should apply.

Another alternative is the new Security Bulletin Search tool Microsoft has
just released. Here is the URL to show all bulletins for Windows XP Home
Service Pack1:
