There is a way to remove the windows xp start up or splash screen. Does
anyone know how?

Disable XP Boot Logo
Click Start | Run | Type: msconfig | Click OK |
BOOT.INI tab | Select: /NOGUIBOOT under Boot Options |
Click Apply | Click OK |

You need to reboot for it to take effect.

The /noguiboot parameter suppresses all bit-mapped graphics during the boot
process, including the splash screen and progress bar that precede the logon
prompt and the blue background of a bug check screen.

You can also select: /sos
The /sos parameter displays the names of the drivers as they load during the
boot process. Makes it look like a real machine instead of a smurf deal.
