Win XP: SP2 Installation hangs

I have XP Pro installed on an older Pentium III, 550mhz Desktop with plenty
of disc space and memory available.

Whenever I try to install SP2, either through windows update, or by
downloading the executable, the install hangs half way through the update
process, and I have to revert my drive back to my older SP1A install (using
Roxio GoBack Pro). I tried running the install with all background
processes such as Zonealarm and Norton AV deactivated, but it didn't make
any difference.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is there something that I'm missing
here? The installation was really easy on my laptop!

Hi Doug,

The problem is most likely the GoBack program, as it is known to cause many
upgrade issues.
