I have the same problem as "bonocol" , everytime I boot up the pc it starts
the boot sequence and then as the Win XP start up screen is displayed the
system reboots , I have tried booting to safe mode but it is the same problem
, I am really lost and would appreciate any help given

Hi,

If you are unable to access the system in any mode (tried the last known
good configuration yet?), then I would suggest you do a repair installation
by booting your WindowsXP CD. Follow these steps to do a repair install
which should preserve your data, settings, and programs:

1. Insert the Windows XP CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM
drive.
2. Restart your computer. If you have to, change the BIOS settings to start
from
the CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart your computer again.
3. At the "Welcome to Setup" page, press ENTER.
4. Press F8 to accept the Licensing Agreement.
5. Use the arrow keys to select the installation of Windows XP that you want
to
repair, and then press R to start the automatic repair process.
6. When Setup is completed, activate Windows XP.

Note that you will need your Product Key for this procedure, so have it
handy before you begin.

This is likely to be a result of cleaning out a piece of malware that
replaced the usual logon code. Adapted from a Post from Kelly: I
suggest using this method if you have a proper retail type CD you can
boot from

This problem turns out to be that the Winlogon userinit entry is being
set to "wsaupdater.exe," and not "userinit.exe,".

Set the BIOS to boot CD before Hard Disk. Boot the XP CD and, instead
of Setup, take the immediate R for Repair. Assume any password
requested is blank, and TAB over.

Change the C:\Windows prompt to: C:\Windows\System32
by
CD System32
then
COPY userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe

Reboot into Safe Mode and use a run of regedit.exe:

Open to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT
\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

And in the right pane double click UserInit and change from
wsaupdater.exe to userinit.exe,

Then you can reboot and delete the wpaupdater.exe file
