The facility that previous versions of Windows had to delete duplicated
files was the Recycle Bin, and nothing has changed in XP. Could you be
thinking of third-party software, perhaps?
You shouldn't automatically delete duplicate files. If you feel you need to
regain some hard disk space, there are better (and safer) ways. Let us know
