win xp problem

I have a friend with winxp and every time you goto
run/programs/accessories It boggs down really bad but
after that you can access it fine, the proccesser wil jup
to about 80% then back down, nothing new installed and no
virus's. its got sp1,pent. 1.8gz, nothing else is bogging
down. increased vital mem, still bogging down any ideas?
