1) If I rollback to a Restore Point prior to a problem (about 2 1/2 weeks
ago), what will happen to any s/w added after that restore Point (e.g.
Windows
updates/patches, MS Office SP3, 3rd party software)?

2) If I use the "repair" option on Win XP CD, will this function overwrite
any Windows s/w that may have been subesquently updated via patches?

Thank you for your reply and the Technet info.

It appears that Restore Points are a useful tool when a problem is
recognized soon after it happened, and updates/patches are not applied in the
meantime. It would seem that its usefulness diminishes, and could actually
result in bigger problems, as time passes.

Perhaps a safer solution would be to do a 'System Restore' from a 'System
Backup' to a point prior to the problem. While I have 'Restored' selected
files and/or directories in the past, I have not done a System Restore. Just
about all of my data files are on a separate "D" drive partition, thus I
would expect to only have to do a "C" drive restore.

Any hints, or quirks I should look for??
