I installed a new hard drive and XP Pro as the new OS. My
other drive has WIN 98 and some programs I use. How do I
get The XP start up drive to also start WIN 98 on the
second drive? So far all I've been able to do is disable
the XP drive in the boot config setup. Then Win 98 starts
up. There has to be a better way. I've read the Multiboot
page on XP Support. It talks mostly about setting up the
drives with the correct partitions. Nothing about
sepatate drives that I could find. XP Pro doesn't
recognize Win 98 on the other drive , but it recognizes
the drive and lists the programs which don't run without
Win 98. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jim

The "duel" was pun intended. I've been fighting with this for awhile.
3rd party apps can be scarry.

Hi Jim,

If WinXP is the boot drive, and it is in NTFS, you cannot add Win98 to the
boot selection. Win98 must boot from a FAT/FAT32 partition. you will need a
third-party solution in the form of a boot manager:

Boot Managers and Partitioning programs:

BootIT NG www.terabyteunlimited.com
Partition Magic www.powerquest.com/partitionmagic
Partition Commander http://www.v-com.com/product/pc_ind.html
Ranish Partition Manager http://www.ranish.com/part/

If WinXP is using FAT32, then you can add Win98 as a boot option by running
bootcfg /add from the Recovery Console.
