I have WinXP Home on a Compaq PC with 512kb RAM. I have a problem
recently that I can't solve and can't pin down to any recent Windows
update or software issue.
When closing down, I get the 'Logging Off' message, followed by the
'Saving Your Settings' message and finally the 'Shutting Down' message. A
few seconds later the hard drive shuts down but the screen stays on (with
the 'Shutting Down' message still visible) and the mouse is still able to
move around the screen. I have to shut down manually by holding the ON
button for a few seconds.
The nearest I can find to this fault on the web or the MS site refers to
an Asian language support issue and is not applicable to my set up.
Any ideas anyone?
TIA
