Win XP Not Printing from MS-DOS

After using Windows Update we had multiple problems. Most
seem to be solved but the LJ4 printer will not print from
DOS application or from cmd (like: dir >prn). Pronts OK
from Windows.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I have the same problem with my Lexmark z53. I discovered a work-around
through experimentation, however..

Find the section of the printer setup which sets up the Print processor,
choose Winprint as the Print processor, and select "Text" as the default
data type for the print processor. I tried each datatype which was in
the list, and only "Text" allowed me to print from the commandline. I
did not try this with printing of a RTF document or graphics. But it
did work for text documents. So using a commandline like
"copy sometextfile.txt > prn" worked like a charm. Also subsituting
"lpt1:" for "prn" worked.
