Win. XP logging off immediately

I am having problems with the Windows XP program on
another computer in the house. When we click the "Owner"
icon to open the OS, it immediately logs back off again. I
have tried several things to get into the Windows XP OS
but, it only stays open for about half a second before
logging back off again. Is there anyway I can correct this
problem without completely wiping down the hard drive and
re-formatting?
