Hi,
I recently attempted to reinstall WinXP Pro due to some
technical difficulties on my part. However, I later
fixed the problem and now I want to "cancel" the XP
reinstallation. I deleted the Windows file that were
about installed, however, the computer still asks me to
choose b/w "Windows XP Pro" and "Windows XP Pro Setup."
I get the error, "<Windowsroot>system32\hal.dll file
missing" when the "setup" is chosen. I want to get rid
of the "Windows Xp Pro Setup" choice when starting up.
Also, everytime I restart the computer, my video
driver "S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR" gets corrupted (a
yellow exclamation mark appears)and I have to reinstall
it. Is this due to my partial installation problem?

Right click on My Computer and select Properties. Go to the Advanced tab
and click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery. Under System
Startup make sure your default operating system is set to Windows XP
Professional. Then click the Edit button. This will open your boot.ini
file for editing. In the [operating systems] section remove the line for
Windows XP Professional Setup. Save the file and close Startup and
Recovery and System Properties.

This will likely have no effect on your graphics driver. Check the
manufacturer's web site to see if there is an updated XP driver for the
card.
