Win XP Home + VPN + Exchange 5.5

We have a remote user who's system runs Windows XP Home SP1.

Then need to VPN into us to access an email account and public folders on
our (aging!) Exchange 5.5 server.

I know Windows XP Home cannot be used in a domain environment, but can it
atleast connect to Exchange 5.5 in this way? I have a feeling Exchange will
prompt for domain credentials, but will they pass ok?

It should. Then it again it may not. I would say in this circumstance to
just try it out and see what happens.
