Win XP Home SP2 .Net Framework lost my profile

After installing .Net Framework 1.1, hotfix 1.1, and .Net Framework 2.0,
reboot showed new user profile and all my former settings were lost. Found
JLS's Documents (my old profile) in My Computer, mirror of new user Capt J
(my new profile). Folders were the same in both folders, and shared. Tried
to remove JLS's Documents in My Computer but Win XP said no, the files were
the same.
Read Article ID 326688 but System Restore didn't work. Backed up all docs
to another HD but still stuck with JLS's Documents in My Computer. I'd like
to see
C:\Documents and Settings\Capt J changed to C:\Documents and Settings\JLS
and My Computer\JLS's Documents disappear. MS Update shows all updates
installed. This stand-alone PC is snappy, but WinXP thinks I'm two users.
Can anyone point me toward a fix? My Dell OEM disk, BTW, said incompatible
with current OS. Reinstalling is not an option.

Hii, if you want to restore your former settings, copy the application data
folder from ur old (original) user folder and dump it into the new one. this
shd restore all your settings but u can only do this accessing from a
different account so for it create a temp admin user login then do the dump
to old to new then log off the temp admin login to ur new account all ur
settings restored! now remove the temp admin account!

Hope this helps...,
