win xp home network

I seem to have similar trouble to several other's here.
I have a dsl modem that is connected to the uplink port
on a netgear dsl/cable wireless router. I have a desktop
connected to one of the four ethernet ports on the
netgear router and my laptop connects wirelessly. Both
computers run Win XP Pro and connect to the internet
flawlessly through this setup. However, I cannot seem to
get either computer to see the other, no matter what I
have tried. My primary goal is to be able to print from
my wireless laptop to a printer connected to the desktop
computer. I have enabled sharing on the printer,
disabled the windows firewall, and made sure that both
computers can ping each other. Any help would be most
appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and
effort.

In your TCP/IP properties, advanced, WINS, tick "enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP"
if it isn't already.

Are both computers in the same workgroup?
