Mt wife's WinXP pro machine hangs about 6 times/day. She
has a bunch of crap running at startup but I think I've
tried closing all of it without help. The machine has an
AthlonXP-1800 and 512 megs of DDR2700 RAM. The processor is
running at about 55 to 60 degrees C. The RAM has passed
memtest. Each time it hangs, the hard drive activity light
is constantly on and the machine is completely
unresponsive. I can't even ping if from other machines on
the LAN. At one point it looked like the hangs were
occuring every 60 minutes, but I can't confirm that today.
I'm a Linux user so I'm used to having logs and ways of
tracing these things. I haven't used Windows since Win98
and have no idea where to go from here. Thanks in advance
for any ideas you might have.
