Win XP evaluation version

I just recently purchased the MCDST training kit for exam 70-271 that comes
with a 120 day evaluation copy of Windows XP Pro SP2. I installed it on a
computer that already had the same version on it that had been damaged by a
virus and would restart every time Windows tried to boot. The disc gave me
the option to fix this previous version, which I did to save all my settings
and programs.

It was successful and I activated my new version, but then when it went to
boot up for the first time, I got a message saying my evaluation period had
expired and Windows would not start (after only 5 minutes of activating it)!
Tech support doesn't support the evaluation version, but I paid for it,
should at least be able to use it, and feel they should have helped me.

What do I need to do to fix this?

Regarding "....but I paid for it, should at least be able to use it, and
feel they should have helped me...." your attempt to use the CD to repair
the XP installation was not a legitimate use and invalidated the evaluation
period.

Save your data files elsewhere. Then use the evaluation version to
reformat the OS partition to do a *FRESH* install of that *evaluation*
version (not some illegal attempt to update a non-trial version with a
trial version).

Probably, a clean install is the place to start.

Repair installs, as you see, retain the old registry as well as your files,
which is why you don't have to reinstall applications. However, the
registry also contains the timeout information.
