Hi There

I have just upgraded from Win 98 to Win XP on my machine its an AMD
motherboard with 2800 chipset the problem I have is this, sometimes the
computer will reset it self and when I log in it is saying that new hardware
has been found which the Universal Serial Bus controllers my question is
this if I need to do a clean install of Win XP isit safe to format the c:
drive without affecting the BIOS or can I just delete the Universal Serial
Bus controllers from the device manager and restart windows XP and then
reinstall the Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Rob, if you uninstall all the USB Controllers from Device Manager when
you restart XP will reinstall them
automatically. It's safe to format the C: drive. It won't effect the
Bios in any way. In fact using the WinXP
CD you can delete the partition and create a new one.
