WIN XP and OFFICE 2000, document merging doesn't work

help! I've got a new Windows XP system, but kept my old
Office 2000. All installed ok and no incapability issues
came up. Using Word, I attempted to open an Excel
database and create a mail merge document -- Windows
started the process, then immediately froze up and did
not open the database. I had to use Task Manager to
cancel.

Is there a problem interfacing between Office 2002 and
Windows XP? thank you for any replies!
 
No, there should not be any interfacing problems. Just make sure that
Office 2000 is installed correctly and that both Word and Excel can start
correctly.

Also, doing all the Windows updates could not hurt!
