I've run into the dredded Win & Mac scenario. I need my
OS X 10.3 and Win XP-Home Ed. computers to talk to each
other because both contain vital information. I attempted
to use the Mac instructions of setting up a network
between the two but boy that didn't turn out right. As I
bridged the connections, online service became
unavailable and my windows wasn't finding another
computer at all. I receive wireless internet via Airport,
which just turns my single T-1 line into two, one for the
Mac and one for this Win. Also, as I setup a user account
for the Windows computer to log on the Mac as, I did not
find a "Allow user to login from Windows" check box. I'm
up for any help I can get right about now. I'm not sure
what VNC is but, I would really appreciate it if someone
could walk me through a tried and true method they used
to get their Mac & Win computers to talk.

I think they ditched the "Allow user to login from
windows" check box. I used to have that in 10.2 but don't
see it here in 10.3. Mac uses Samba to talk to Windows
machines and should be easy to set up. Let's start with
that. Can you see your windows machine when you click on
the network icon in the finder?
