I have a couple of sites that I visit regularly that requires Java to be
enabled on the Browser. I downloaded the suggested Java update from the
Java site and everything works fine. However, after doing this a couple of
sites I visit will only show a red x (or sometimes the Java symbol) when
trying to display.

This problem never occurred when I was using Windows ME but now seems to
occur all the time since I have Windows XP (I had a sever computer crash and
had Windows XP Home installed after the system was repaired). Personally I
like XP better than ME but some of these minor glitches (most of which I
have been able to cure myself) can be a bit irritating.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Went to IE>Tools>Internet Options>Security as you suggested however, did not
find any reference to Java Permissions in the list.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Kelly;

Thanks very much for your help. I finally had to go to:-
http://java-virtual-machine.net/download.html.

After downloading the MS Java Virtual Machine everything works wonderfully.
Your help is greatly appreciated since trying some of your suggestions led
me to that URL.

Oh the joys of computing when software companies start fighting with each
other.
Once again thanks for your help!
